LILLY Iron c1860

Here is a nice example of a Lilly Iron. However it seems to have been priced too high.

Up form auction is this very nice clean LILLY Iron. The LILLY has a nice smooth brown patina with a nice amount of original finish. The LILLY's hinges open and closed very smoothly, as well as the locking screw/nut. The LILLY is in all original condition, has not been worked on or altered. There are no identifying markings that I have noticed on the LILLY. The key is not original, but is period correct and works well in the Lilly. This style handcuff was used to restrain the Lincoln conspirators and slave during the civil war era. This is a great opportunity for someone to add this desirable piece to their collection, and is in great condition! Measurements: Length: 13 1/8 inches long Width: 1½ inches The buy it now price includes shipping within the United States. Outside United States bidders should know that this item may not be able to be shipped with insurance to some countries! - eBay (22 April 2012)
This Lilly Iron had a 'Buy-it-Now' price of $1,475 (Plus Free Shipping) but did not sell. It was listed earlier with a 'Buy-it-Now' price of $1,650 and $1,550 but did not sell at the higher prices either.

HUGE brass and iron PADLOCK

I don't know what to make of this padlock other than clearly someone thought it was worth a good deal of money. That is interesting as part of me thought that this might have been some sort of fantasy padlock out of India. At least a very good quality one. The selling price tells me that this was a genuine article.
Very unusual, antique, brass and iron padlock.Probably 1800s.Very heavy,866 gms.13 cms long x 7.4 wide x 3 cms thick.Unusual mechanism. The inner iron lock, springs about a centimeter, out of the brass case, when unlocked.See pictures 7 and 8.To lock, the sprung iron inner, has to be clicked back into the brass case.Good overall condition. However there is a knack to operate. To unlock, the best way ,is one hand to use the key,the other to push the brass case away,at the same time pull the iron inner towards ,then turn the key ,sometimes several attempts may be needed. There is a trade mark,a key with an entwined s.Stamped lettering below that is indistinct. - eBay (15 April 2012)
This padlock had a high bid of 819.99 British Pounds/$1,299 (Plus Shipping).

This padlock had an opening bid of $1,500 (Plus Shipping) but failed to find any bidders. I honestly have no clue what the right price for this padlock would be. That is not an estimate of value, just a floor on what it might be worth...
